Model rockets are a fun and educational hobby. However, improper use can result in property damage and injuries to people nearby. You must get a Model Rocket Launching Permit from the Salem Fire Department before launching rockets. The fire department may immediately revoke its authorization to use a firing area if it is found that an undue hazard exists.

To apply for a permit:

1. Download and complete the permit application.
2. Get written permission from the property owner of the proposed launch site.
3. Send your completed application to the Salem Fire Department.
4. Call the Salem Fire Department to schedule a review of your application.
