Salem Considered a Livable Community

Post Date:02/04/2019

Salem is considered to be a mostly livable community. That is according to the results of the most recent Our Salem survey question.

More than 155 people answered the multiple-choice question: "How livable is the Salem community?" More than half of respondents chose either "very livable" or "mostly livable." Another 28 percent answered with "slightly livable." About 10 percent indicated that Salem is "not very livable."

As part of the first phase of the project, the City is working with a consultant team to understand the current state of the city and how Salem could grow in the future. Livability in the community will be evaluated in this effort. The online survey sought to better understand the community's perception of livability in Salem today.  See the indicators project update to find out which measures were chosen from public input to evaluate the livability of Salem for the comprehensive plan.
