The City of Salem regrets to announce the cancellation of Salem Service Day, formerly Public Works Day, scheduled at Riverfront Park on June 20, 2024.

While we appreciate the value of this event, it takes many hours of staff time to deliver. Due to staffing challenges, the difficult decision was made to cancel Salem Service Day and prioritize delivering daily services for the benefit of the residents of Salem.

For 20 years, we have hosted an annual Public Works Day in June to increase community awareness and understanding about the services City of Salem staff deliver. In 2023, we expanded Public Works Day event to include all the services the City provides and renamed it to Salem Service Day.  The event, hosted by staff from Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Center 50+, Salem Public Library, Fire, and Police departments, has provided information, equipment demonstrations, and games to celebrate the work done by City staff for our community.
