4th of July Spectacular

Celebrate with us!

Fireworks and fun for all ages are back again for 2024 at the 4th of July Spectacular at the Oregon State Fair and Exposition Center. Admission to the Fairgrounds and Fireworks Spectacular viewing are both free for all.

Gates open at 3 p.m. on a full slate of fun leading up to the main pyrotechnic event at 10 p.m. We recommend bringing blankets and chairs for the 20-minute show. You'll be able to choose from great bites and beverages, too.

Ticketed events

Ticketed events add to the experience including:

  • the Bounce n' Battle Fun Zone featuring 11 attractions such as the hoopshot showdown, mini-golf, the inflatable axe throw and bounce houses for toddlers
  • demolition derby at 7:30 p.m. in the Pavilion
  • the Spirit of Oregon VIP Party Zone, featuring live music from Northest country artist McKayla Marie, and high-energy 80s tribute band, Radical Revolution -- veterans get in free!

Several YMCA veterans will also be presented with a Quilt of Valor on the Spirit of Oregon Stage. A Quilt of Valor is a machine or hand-made quilt awarded to a service member touched by war, as a thank-you for their sacrifice.

For every event and attraction ticket sold, $2 will be donated to The Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties veterans housing project, Courtney Place, which provides affordable housing for veterans.

Save money on tickets through advance and package purchases.

Why is the event at the Fairgrounds?

The City of Salem is excited to partner with the Oregon State Fairgrounds on the 2024 4th of July Spectacular. The event was moved from Riverfront Park to the Fairgrounds in 2023 due to the potential impact of the large fireworks show on the returning eagle population along the Willamette River in downtown Salem. July represents a critical time in the eagle nesting period when young eagles are beginning to fledge from the nest and take flight for the first time. Moving the large-scale fireworks show represents Salem’s commitment to our eagle population as a federally protected species and protecting the welcomed addition to the natural beauty surrounding the Willamette River throughout the year.
