Post Date:11/15/2022 2:57 PM

Salem, Ore. — Two suspects were arrested on November 11, after the report of a carjacking on Friday night in northeast Salem.

Shortly before 10 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen in the 3200 block of Felina AV NE. The caller recounted being approached at rifle-point and ordered to exit their vehicle after, by happenstance, they witnessed an assault.

Two male suspects fled in the victim’s sedan. Patrol officers in the area were able to locate the car in the area of Hawthorne AV and Mission ST SE. The suspects, ages 20 and 14, were taken into custody and two weapons were seized: a semi-automatic shotgun and an automatic rifle, each with rounds in the chamber.

Elijah Jacob Sierzega of Salem was lodged at the Marion County Jail on the following charges:

  • Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
  • Robbery in the first degree
  • Unlawful use of a weapon, firearm
  • Menacing

The unnamed teenager was lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center on related criminal charges. The Salem Police Department does not release the identity of minors in criminal cases.

The 20-year-old Sierzega also had six outstanding warrants related to another case. He is due to be arraigned today, November 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Marion County Criminal Court Annex. All further questions regarding this investigation should be directed to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.
