Salem, Ore. — Salem Police Violent Crimes Unit detectives are issuing an appeal to the public for information in locating those involved in a 2019 shooting incident which left one person dead.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 18, 2019 patrol officers responded to the call of two individuals shot outside the Pine Street Pub at 460 Pine ST NE. Salem Police officers located a man and a woman with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Salem Health with the 37-year-old man surviving his injuries and the woman, identified as Jennifer Black, age 40, died.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned two men approached three individuals outside the establishment before one of the men opened fire. It was originally reported that only the two individuals were shot, however, detectives also discovered the third person, an adult male, outside the bar was shot as well.

The two men involved in the incident, the shooter and companion, remain outstanding. At this time, the companion is not a suspect, and detectives are seeking a statement from this individual.

The case is featured on Crime Stoppers of Oregon. The reward offer of up to $2,500 remains available to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest in the case.

After hundreds of investigative hours to date, the early morning incident has left detectives with all leads exhausted. Investigators now turn to the public for assistance, believing there could be witnesses who may have seen the suspect or know the identities of the two men. “We may have missed speaking with someone who was at the location that night as there were many people at scene,” said acting-Lieutenant Garon Boyce of the Investigations Division. “Understandably, some patrons left immediately, but it is important we speak with everyone.”

Information about the identity of the suspect or companion can be submitted directly through Crime Stoppers or by calling the Salem Police Tips Line at 503-588-8477.
