If your property has experienced past flooding or drainage issues, or if you are concerned about future flooding, City of Salem staff is available to perform a site visit. Property owners or residents may request a site visit during the dry season, during flood conditions, or immediately following a flood event.

At the visit, a certified floodplain manager, building inspector, or stormwater maintenance personnel will give suggestions on how to best protect a specific property from flood damage. You may also receive recommendations for retrofitting measures, which are changes made to an existing structure to reduce the possibility of damage from flooding.

Other flood-related resources are available, and you can obtain contact information for these programs from City staff. A site visit will usually be completed within one week of your request.
