Meals and food

Marion Polk Food Share is open and distributing food to community through its various programs. Download the food pantry list to see which food pantries are still operating in your neighborhood.

Salem Keizer Public Schools

Offering grab and go breakfast lunch to youth 18 and under from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. daily. View online list of 36 meal sites on the website.

Center 50+

Offering drive-up meals to seniors. Call for updates or check their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/center50plus for other available programs and services.

ARCHES

Sack lunches are available at ARCHES, 615 Commercial Street NE.

Mano a Mano

Food boxes are available. Call ahead to schedule pick up time: 503-315-2290 (southeast Salem) or 503-363-1895 (northeast Salem).

Area grocery stores

Many grocery stores are offering early access to elderly and immunocompromised. Some grocery stores are also offering curb-side pick-up and delivery options.

Oregon Department of Human Services Food Assistance

To make it easier to see what food resources are available, the Department of Human Services has developed a new website to help connect Oregonians with local school meal programs, food banks and pantries, meals for older community members, and applications for food assistance programs. Downloadable flyers in 11 languages also available.

Housing and help

Fair Housing Council of Oregon

Report possible housing discrimination by going to the website and clicking the "Contact" tab at the top. The Fair Housing Council of Oregon's Renters' Rights Hotline may not be accepting phone calls in the near-term.

Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency

Committed to continuing its community assistance services, available by phone and email.

Energy Assistance: Staff are assisting clients by phone and email to ensure clients continue to have access to energy assistance funds for maintaining safe and comfortable homes.
Weatherization: The Weatherization team is providing services to clients. No home visits as this time.
Arches Day Center and satellite offices are continuing operations with heightened awareness and cleaning precautions. Housing assistance and basic needs services are being provided to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Day Center and Warming shelters are currently closed for the season, but mail and sack lunches are available, and we are working on additional shelter options during the COVID-19 outbreak.
HOME Youth Services: Taylor's House and The Drop In are open and providing youth with meals, basic needs, and supportive services. We are monitoring occupancy levels and distancing, while increasing our cleaning and sanitation practices. Youth residing at Taylor's House are being supported with maintaining their studies during the current school closures.
Head Start: All Head Start classes are cancelled until April 28, 2020. Head Start staff are committed to helping families through this difficult time and we are connecting with families daily via phone and email to identify items they need such as diapers or food. The Head Start team is coordinating the delivery of needed items to families' doorsteps.
Nutrition First: Staff are continuing all services at this time. The Nutrition First team is supporting child care providers around the State with heightened awareness and sanitation practices.
Child Care Resource and Referral: In person classes have been cancelled, but staff are offering support and training to families and child care providers via online and phone services.

The Salvation Army Family Services

The Salvation Army is committed to serving the community during this time.

Financial Assistance Program: Resource Services will continue to screen and work client files for eligibility for evictions, shut offs and deposit assistance. This will be done via phone and email as much as possible.
Food Bank Program: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. All distributing is being handled by customers receiving pre-made food boxes only. The shopping style model has been suspended during this time.
Family Services has suspended walk in services at the Front Street location.
Lighthouse Shelter intakes will be conducted on a limited basis Monday – Thursday from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. One on one appointments are to be made via referral or by phone 503-585-6688.

MOM's Plus Program

Phone and video appointments available and office work is being done remotely to help clients access community resources. Mentors are still able to transport clients to and from appointments but will remain in their vehicles.
