1200Z Permit is a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Discharge Permit issued by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to industrial facilities that may discharge stormwater to surface waters. The permit holder for the Salem Municipal Airport 1200Z permit is the City of Salem. The City is responsible for sampling and reporting for the permit, but each tenant is responsible for being aware of the permit requirements, maintaining a clean site, and preventing any pollutants from making contact with stormwater or reaching local streams.

All employees of airport tenants must be trained on the 1200Z materials included on this website. Each employee must be trained within 30 days of being hired, as well as annually. Who Needs This Training

Personnel who are required to receive training include general managers, supervisors, and any staff responsible for pollution prevention and stormwater matters including the following:

  • All personnel who are responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, or repair of controls including, pollution prevention and treatment measures;
  • All personnel responsible for the storage and handling of chemicals and materials that could contribute pollutants to stormwater;
  • All personnel who are responsible for conducting or documenting monitoring or inspections as required in Schedule B;
  • All personnel who are responsible for conducting and documenting corrective actions.

All employees that fit the requirements above must be trained on the 1200Z materials included on this website. Trainings must be completed annually and within 30 days for new hires.
