Get Involved

If you want to get involved with the Salem Fire Department and Public Safety, here are some ways you can help.

CERT volunteers

Your community needs your help. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program trains volunteers to assist their communities when a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response. Become a member by visiting the CERT Program Page.

Community Connect

The Salem Fire Department is always looking for ways to better serve our community. For this reason, we have implemented a program to protect our residents and First Responders in the most effective way possible. Community Connect is a free, secure, and easy to use platform that allows you to share critical information and voluntary self-report COVID-19 information even if you are asymptomatic or tested negative. It is important to let First Responders know your situation.  Visit the Community Connect page and create your account.

Ride-Along Program
The Salem Fire Department has a ride-along program. If you are thinking of becoming a firefighter, a ride-along is a great way to see what the job of a firefighter is all about.

You will need to submit a ride-along application, pass a background check and complete patient privacy training.  For more information, visit the Ride-Along Application Page
