Liberty Street Bridge Rehabilitation

Project Information

The Safety and Livability Bond was passed by Salem voters in November 2022 and included funds for bridge rehabilitation of Liberty Street NE over Mill Creek. This project will include strengthening of the bridge to meet new Federal Highway Administration and ODOT load rating requirements.

The proposed strengthening is not the result of any observed or recorded deterioration of the bridge.This project will install additional reinforcement at various locations in the bridge. Upon completion of the project, the improvements will allow the current load restriction posting on the bridge to be removed.

Elements

During the initial stages of design, utility locates will be marked in paint to identify the location of underground utilities. Additionally, survey crews will be gathering boundary and topographic information. As part of this process, it may be necessary for survey crews to enter your property under ORS 672.047 to locate and measure existing survey monuments of record. Temporary or permanent survey monuments may be required and will be identified with a lath and/or ribbon. All monuments will be clearly marked, and any temporary monuments will be removed following project completion.
