The implementation of this ID Media badging process is a requirement for commercial service at Salem-Willamette Valley Airport by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

The size and number of souls on board of the aircraft flown into Salem-Willamette Valley Airport by Avelo Airlines mandate an enhanced security plan for the airport beyond previous commercial service requirements. Including a Security Badging ID Media process

Beginning in late 2023 all individuals who wish to have unescorted access to the Salem-Willamette Valley Airport's airfield are required to submit application and successfully pass a Security Threat Assessment (STA) from the TSA

Types of ID Media issued by Salem-Willamette Valley Airport

Air Operations Area (AOA)

Allows for perimeter access to all general aviation hangars, their surrounding taxiways and ramps. Everything within the perimeter fence is AOA unless otherwise designated as Secure or Sterile.

Secure:

Allows for unescorted access to the Secured Area of the passenger terminal and adjacent commercial apron.

Requires FBI Fingerprinting Criminal History Check and subscription into the TSA RAP Back program

Sterile:

Allows for unescorted access into the sterile area of the passenger terminal.

Endorsements

D– Driver endorsement is required only for Secured Area ID Media

E- Escort endorsement allows the ID Media holder to escort unbadged individuals

The application sections required for Air Operations Area or AOA media are 1, 3, and 5.

The sections required for Secured or Sterile ID Media are 1, 3, 4, and 5.
