Jim Schmidt, Service Technologies Division Manager

Jim started his career in farming and construction, owning and operating several business lines. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and over 25 years of management experience in the trucking and construction industries. Jim started with the City of Salem as a Safety Coordinator in 2015. He was promoted to the City’s Fleet Manager in 2018, and as of 2021 he is the Service Technology Division Manager. The Service Technology division includes Fleet, Facilities, and Document Services.

Jim’s focus on value and efficiency has resulted in the City of Salem’s fleet ranking in the top 100 Best Fleets in the country.

In his free time, Jim enjoys spending time with his family and motorcycling.

The Service Technology division focuses on providing outstanding customer service to City departments and local agencies. The Fleet Services team was nationally recognized as one of the 10 best Fleets for three years running.

Service Technology Services

Service Technologies provides fleet services including vehicle acquisitions, maintenance, repair, and fueling. Facility services including building operations, building maintenance, and custodial services. As well as document services including reprographics and courier services.
