Geer Park Master Plan Update
About the Park
Geer Park is a 44-acre, community park located at 241 Geer Drive NE. As a Community Park, Geer is a park where you can find active and passive activities and reservable features such as a covered shelter and ball fields. The park currently includes both developed and natural walking paths, picnic tables, two baseball fields, two soccer fields, and Salem's only bike park.
About the Master Plan Update
City Council approved the Geer Park Master Plan Update on July 16, 2021. The master plan envisions the development of the following park features:
- Multi-use sports field: baseball, softball, and soccer
- Skatepark (approximately 20,000 square foot)
- Playground (approximately 10,000 square foot)
- Splash pad (approximately 1,800 square foot)
- Enhanced bike park
- Single track bike trails
- Flexible open space
- Hard surface paths
- Soft surface trail
- Large dog park (approximately 1 acre)
- Small dog park (approximately 1/4 acre)
- Picnic shelters (4)
- Restrooms (2)
- Parking (40 stalls)
- Potential locations for public art and interpretative signage
Development of these park features will occur in phases.

Next Steps: Geer Park Improvements, Phase II
An initial phase of improvements to Geer Park was completed in 2005. The next phase of improvements, Phase II, includes the proposed skate park, a picnic shelter, and new access paths. The project is scheduled for construction in 2024. Later phases will be determined based on available funding.
