Salem Parks

The pride and joy of any town is the public park system. Salem boasts hidden gems located inside neighborhoods, larger community parks with reservable areas for weddings, reunions, company picnics, and athletic tournaments, plus special event parks for concerts, festivals, movies, and run/walk events. Salem is fortunate to have historical sites and park features not found anywhere this side of the Mississippi. Salem's thriving volunteer base works in tandem, contributing assistance to support these wonderful City resources.

Wallace Marine Park Sports Complex is spread out over 114 acres on the west bank of the Willamette River. The park is home to Wallace Marine Softball Complex which hosts softball and kickball leagues, in addition to local, state, regional, and national tournaments in the star complex on 5 natural grass softball fields. Outside of the softball complex, 5 soccer fields of various sizes fill the middle of the park to accommodate different levels of play, and has a playground with picnic tables, and portable toilets. The south end of the park features restrooms, a boat ramp, and floating dock enjoyed by motor boats, kayakers, fishing enthusiasts, and the like.  Walkers, runners, and bicyclists enjoy the developed and undeveloped trails circling the park and up the Union Street Railroad Bridge which crosses the Willamette River and leads the public into Riverfront Park
