Interlibrary Loan Program

If you are a Salem Public Library card holder, we have a way for you to borrow materials not available through our main Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service catalog. Interlibrary loan is a service that gives you access to materials owned by other libraries throughout the United States.

Deciding if interlibrary loan is right for you

  • You can have up to three interlibrary loan requests in process at a time
  • Loan material usually takes 2-4 weeks to arrive
  • There is no charge to request materials through interlibrary loan

Things to check before placing a request

Verify the following information before placing an interlibrary loan request:

  • Your account information, making sure the mailing address, phone number, and email address are current. If any of the information is out of date or inaccurate, stop by an Ask Here Desk before placing your request.
  • Your preferred method for receiving notifications (email; phone; postal mail). Change it, if needed, before placing your request.
  • The main library catalog to see if we have the materials you are looking for.
